Schema markup

Schema markup (or structured data) is a standardized markup (Schema.org) added to a page's HTML code to help search engines and AIs understand the content, entities and relationships on the page.

Schema markup and GEO

Schema markup plays a dual role in GEO. First, it helps AI crawlers understand your content. Second, it reinforces E-E-A-T signals by clearly identifying authors, organization and information structure.

Essential schemas for GEO

  • Organization — Identifies your company (name, logo, founders, service area)
  • Person — Identifies authors (name, title, social networks)
  • FAQPage — Structures Q&A for AI extraction
  • Article — Identifies author, publication and update dates
  • HowTo — Structures step-by-step guides
  • LocalBusiness — For local visibility (address, hours)

For a complete implementation guide, see our article Schema markup for GEO. At PingPrime, schema markup is an integral part of the Do phase of our IDO methodology.
